I run an article directory on my site, and I'm seeing an ever-increasing amount of articles being submitted, only for the backlink provided in the Resource Box. I discovered linklicious plugin by searching newspapers. This might be as a result of increasing quantity of PLR articles and material that is becoming available.
Now, there is not necessarily anything wrong with this, I only think that writers who are doing this are missing out on possible traffic and/or clients. Such source boxes is only going to benefit their site rankings in any internet search engine that values incoming links.
Is this a bad thing? No. To learn more, people might want to check out: http://linklicious.org/. Where they're losing out is as follows.
Much of the traffic to my post index comes from search engines, by people searching for info on a specific subject. Today, this user types in their key words, presses on the search field, and is given a list of relevant sites. They selected one, and are taken up to the author's article. They browse the article about, say, snowboarding, feel 'This is interesting' and go to the author's source box by the end of-the article to see what else they've to say on this subject. There, they locate a link to your site marketing portable ringtones. Is the reader going to be impressed, or interested in this? Not so likely. They wish to check out snowboarding, not modify their phone. I believe among three things may happen then:
The audience leaves the entire site in disgust.
The reader clicks on a link to a related report.
The reader clicks on the related Google Ad-sense (or similar contextual marketing) ad.
They do not click the author's reference link. That's a possible client lost, quite probably permanently.
Yes, put a link in to your site in the resource box, but most article directories allow many links, so for goodness sake put a link in that' ;s related to the article subject too, and ultimately put it in first, before you lose the consumer.
'But my site doesn't have such a thing related to that matter about it'!
Adding a thing that does. Increase a post index, and have the source box saying 'To see more articles on this subject, click here.' Add a web service, and have the text say 'To look at links to websites with this subject, click here.' Or simply visit ClickBank, search for related tasks, and have a link to them, with the link saying something such as 'If you want to learn more on this issue, obtain this item.' Ideally, not a direct link to the product, but a cloaked or redirected one.
Using this method, you still get that url to your website that you were after actually, but, additionally, you have the opportunity to earn money from the audience in a brand new way.
