Within the tale, Joseph was always the center of his father's love and attention. Jake even gave Joseph a colorful coat or clothing that came to symbolize how particular h-e was in his father's eyes. Some accounts state that his friends plotted to destroy him but later chose to put Joseph right into a hole. Joseph's brothers also got his colorful coat and wiped it with animal blood. They later lied with their father by saying that Joseph died after being attacked by wild animals. After some time in the bottom of the pit, Joseph was picked up by traveling merchants and later sold him in to slavery.

The young lad was later bought by the merchants to Potiphar, among the Egyptian Pharaoh's respected leaders. Being a worker in Potiphar's household, h-e became distinguished in his labors. H-e was later appointed director over Potiphar's household. The story requires a serious turn when Potiphar's wife falsely accused Joseph of trying to sexually assault her. Of course, Potiphar's spouse did this to get back at Joseph who regularly warded off her sexual advances. Enraged by the accusation, Potiphar sent Joseph to prison.

In prison, Joseph again found favor by being able interpret the goals of the Pharaoh. The Pharaoh was so full of anxiety and stress about the visions he couldn't understand and the horrible dreams he'd. Through Joseph, the Pharaoh was able to understand the economic implications of his dreams for the land of Egypt. Later, he was appointed governor of Egypt. Where Jacob and his sons lived the famine that struck the land became the key reason why they were later reunited. Reconciliation between Joseph and his brothers paved the-way for Jacob to again see his daughter.

This remarkable story shows exactly how we, like Joseph, must cling to faith also within the most trying circumstances. Anxiety and stress do not need to stop us from believing that God has forsaken us and that we've been left alone at the center of all our problems. Indeed, overcoming life's challenges is a journey of confidence, faith, and determination that most people should just take.
